Loss - Hard to let it go

Every year - you can find out that another important thing from your past is closing down / shutting down / being replaced. This can really be extremely depressing.
For me = my grammer school, high school and university have closed, changed or merged into something else. They no longer exist.
My favorite local donut shop closed after 40 years of excellent service. They even won an award for their donuts. Now they are gone.
I used to love going to the famous Disney World in my youth. Now - I don't even recognize the place. I stopped going because it is too painful for me. I have fond memories of a theme park that was both entertaining and affordable. It would shock many people today to tell them how much I budgeted to go to Disney World = $500. 3 days at the park, hotel (not on the park but nearby), food, and gas. These days people spend that amount at just one Disney restuarant - one family meal.
All I can stress to people is - be grateful for the good times - remember them - keep them in your heart. They will never fade. They made you what you are today. Be grateful for what you experienced.
People born today will never get to experience those wonderful times that you cherish. They have only the poor quality food and places to deal with.
I love my memories.
Take care,
LK
