Tune In or Tune Out???

Last night = I went out to eat at a local diner. Friday night = who wants to cook? Not me.

I brought with me = my mother = to chat about the daily grind of life. The waitress was good and the food was fine.

However, the company was lousy! Behind me = a group of people that were both vulgar and violent. The foul language never stopped. One of them sounded unbelievably violent = threatening to hurt people.

At one point, the cook from the diner came out and told the group to be "NICE." She was worried about this group. She recognized them = they had come to this place before. They were so LOUD that she heard them from the back of the building. The waitress on duty was new to the job and she did not want this group harassing her. This made me even more nervous that someone from the back had to come up and tell these people something.

My mother could tell that I was upset with the situation. I don't have a "Poker Face." She told me to try to "Tune them out." I've never been good at tuning out things or people. A part of me is always wanting to be fully aware of my surroundings. If something is about to go wrong, then I need to be aware of it so I can drop to the ground and avoid being shot!

Needless to say, these unpleasant people ruined the evening. We ate quickly = paid our bill = and got the hell out of dodge! I was terrified that there would be an incident in the diner and it would spill over into our area. I could have dealt with them but I was worried about my mother. The last thing my retired mother needs is to be apart of a brawl!

I am sometimes envious of people that have the ability to "Tune Out" the world. Having your head in the sand means you're not bothered by your surroundings. Usually these people have very low blood pressure and smiles on their faces. They are totally clueless and happy.

Since I am 100% "Tuned In" on the world and its people = my blood pressure stinks. My anxiety level is thru the roof. Aggressive people seem to be everywhere = on the streets, in the stores, and in the restaurants. People have become almost savage in their behavior. Is it a result of the times = lockdowns, poor economy, political unrest, etc... Who knows?!

No wonder so many people are having their food delivered and buying their stuff on-line. The world is becoming extremely SCARY out there!

Take care,

LK
