Mothers should receive more awards than any other person on this planet. They put up with so much and they still cook the meals at home.
The female movement may have helped us leave the kitchen. However, the kitchen continues to follow us.
How many females find themselves stuck with the duty of fixing the evening meal no matter how rough their day was at work? How many females feel like their kitchen meals are unappreciated? How many females receive help in the kitchen from other family members?
On a personal note, I remember my mother coming home from work and being expected to make the evening meal for my father, my sister and myself. She was exhausted and tired but she still would spend an hour in the kitchen = cooking a meal for her family. Once I was old enough, I could help with the dishes and cleaning up in the kitchen. My father's an old-fashioned Southern man = old ideas in his head = wife takes care of the house and the kids = the husband doesn't. How many females out there have to deal with dead elephants in the room?
I always felt sorry for my mother. It wasn't fair. She worked a full day just like my father. So why in the hell did she have to make the meal!
My mother would always come back with a comment that reflected her concern about my health. She didn't want her children to have junk food in the evening. She wanted us to have a good meal = lots of nutrition. She felt it was her duty to look out for her children.
Years have gone by and I still see women having to carry the burden of taking care of the home and the kids on their already overworked shoulders. Why?
It's makes you wonder about the female movement. Did we win? Or lose?
Take care,
